Eye on you: Cameras are coming to Seneca Street & South Buffalo
In the coming weeks certain intersections along Seneca Street will be fitted for the first time with new cameras from the City of Buffalo. Areas that target the most trouble will be first. Seneca/Babcock, Seneca/Bailey, Seneca/Duerstein (St. John’s/Cazenovia Park).
Before summer time, these high-tech cameras will be installed with the ability to see ¼ mile in every direction of their location.
To start six have been approved and will be set up in South Buffalo, another location considered is the South Park/Louisiana area.
While South Buffalo area Block Club leaders beleive there should be more in the wake of the big drug bust, some feel it’s a good start in watching the problems of the communities a little closer.
What about Seneca and Indian Church?

From what I know Chili Willie, they will be set up in areas of “trouble spots” first. Six cameras to cover all of South Buffalo is not a lot at all. And while we’d like to see one on every corner of the City, there’s just no money for it. There is a huge gap between Seneca/Duerstein (St. John’s/Cazenovia Park) and Seneca/Bailey, an additional camera at the Seneca/Hayden intersection might seem like the most ideal location.

I am glad to see these cameras coming to our side of the city. Maybe we can catch some more of the scum that plague the area and run them out of our part of the city.

Seneca Street, in my opinion (by watching the last couple of years) has been in need of some serious attention that the City of Buffalo, County of Erie, State of New York have all ignored… yet we always seem to have the same people elected back into office talking about all they have done, yet when you take a really good look around, the area has only gotten worse. If not for Councilman Kearns keeping South Buffalo afloat, we’d be the identical twin of Broadway on the East Side. The cameras are a good sign that people like us still care enough to remain in the City.

I and my family are all from seneca street and the fruit belt. Iv seen the best and the worst of both worlds. Seneca is nuthing compared to the fruit belt. But everyone knows seneca is well on its way. But dont think theres not the perfect grounds for it to start sooner. 7th street gang members (west side) live off of indian church and chamberlin off of seneca. Crips on edson and duerstein. E block and d block That has most of there members in jail. But 15 year olds in it are runnin around wit shot guns in there cars down there. And seneca really dont make the news but there was a shooting infront of buzz n bee and on burch avenue last summer. theres a muslim gang and latino i have also seen. I’m only 17 i no all of them , walked past them, herd of them, or no there friends. Its really getting bad. iv grown and am away from it all but its needs to be taken care of. Buerstein and edson are hustlin and drop corner capitals off of seneca. i have seen more cops but no action. Camera no we need cameras. plural. and quick. save caz from its already drug and assualt infestd kids. theres graffitti popin up all over caz courts. garbage.
