By: CindyK. This is the last day of 2007 and as I took a walk today, I thought back to the words of how new street lights were coming to Seneca Street six months ago. Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy made the announcement while along with City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown at a community forum of Block Club leaders in South Buffalo.
Speaking on behalf of Congressman Brian Higgins, Assemblyman Mark Schroeder and Councilman Mickey Kearns, Kennedy said this past summer that $300,000 in funding would be used to replace the old street lights, it was said we would have “something better” than the standard street lights. It was said this part was the final phase to the revitalization of Seneca Street, yet the first phase from 3 years ago hasn’t begun. Today, as we did on that warm day back in May, we have the same rusted up & Mickey Mouse wired street lights as before. These are just a few of pictures that tell the real story though.

By: CindyK. Back in September I wrote a post about how Peremont Place in South Buffalo is a little street with a big problem. Today it’s a problem no longer.

Much thanks to Councilman Mickey Kearns and the City of Buffalo signs department for resolving this safety concern. This is just one little sign, but the little things we can do to make Buffalo better is a big step in the right direction… even if it’s a street sign that says “Do Not Enter”.
By: Cindyk. I have been blogging for some time about a street light (pole #155) on Cazenovia Street in South Buffalo. I made my complaint to Mayor Brown’s Call & Resolution Center and have monitored the status for several weeks.
Today I checked back to find the status of my complaint has been closed with a resolution description.

Status: CLOSED
Closing Date: 2007-12-19T00:00:00.0000000-05:00
Resolution Description: THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN REFERRED TO THE NATIONAL GRID.
Today, I also checked back with the pole:

Is National Grid obligated to fix a City of Buffalo street light pole?
Exactly how hard is it to get a rusted out street light pole replaced?
Updated: 12/21/07
I received in the mail this morning a letter from the City of Buffalo confirming the status on my complaint. Whereas it raises more questions.

The arrow is pointing to the part where it says:
We will continue to work with “them” (National Grid) regarding your concern until we (the City of Buffalo) can reach a satisfactory resolution pertaining to this matter.
If the City is still going to work with National Grid until this matter is resolved, why is the status of my complaint closed?
By: Cindyk. I saw this sign today on the empty lot where Heidi’s on Seneca Street used to be.

I’ll look more into this good news.
By. Cindyk. Any day now … I keep thinking someone is going to come out and remove the old rusted up street light in front of the Cazenovia Library that I’ve been blogging about:

November 29, 2007
November 27, 2007
November 20, 2007
November 4, 2007
September 10, 2007
After another winter of plowing and salting, we won’t have to wait on the city of Buffalo to take this pole down, it’ll come down on it’s own.
